Marvin M. Black Award
Every year, the Associated General Contractors of America presents its coveted
Marvin M. Black Excellence in Partnering Award to a select group of the nation's finest
construction firms that understand and embrace partnering. In 1998, a Partnering Award was
presented to PCE for exemplary communications and teamwork during the planning and
construction of Lange Middle School in Columbia.

"The PCE Partnering Process allowed us to build trust and relationships that
kept the project focused. There was tremendous pride in finishing the project ahead of
schedule. PCE was true to their partnering goals and true to their word."
- Dr. Marjorie Spaedy, Deputy Superintendent, Columbia Public Schools

Because of the success of this project, Shelter Insurance Company chose
PCE to construct a new entrance addition. In fact, Shelter Insurance Vice President
Don Northway said, "Everything I have to say about Craig Simon and PCE is very positive.
Where do I start? We looked at different contractors for our design/build addition, and we
chose PCE because of an excellent reputation in the community. We remembered how
successful PCE was with the John B. Lange Middle School project. Many times, school
construction seems to go on and on, but PCE finished the project in record time."
